Spring is in the air, animals are beginning to frolic in the pastures of Southwestern Ontario – and Post Productions is opening its tenth season with Edward Albee’s controversial masterpiece The Goat or, Who Is Sylvia?. The Tony Award winning play is the story of a successful architect, his devoted wife, and their precocious son living in blissful domestic stability… until a longtime family friend exposes a troubling secret that threatens to tear the family apart. A razor-sharp romantic tragicomedy that probes love, marriage, and the limits of tolerance with provocative wit, The Goat blends bold humor, uncanny insight, and intense moral confrontation to create an unforgettable experience for Windsor-Essex audiences at The Shadowbox Theatre for 8 performances from March 13 to March 28, 2026.

“To anyone familiar with the script and our company, it will come as no surprise that we’ve chosen to produce The Goat as our 10-year season opener,” remarks director and producer Fay Lynn. “Albee’s work is just the right blend of absurdity, humour, and raw humanity to fit our brand – and The Goat, in particular, is both disturbing in its content and oddly romantic in its tone. It just felt right for spring. Like a new beginning.”

Noting the difficulty of choosing just the right play to launch the company’s tenth season, director and producer Michael K. Potter adds, “We needed something that reinforced our brand, who we are as a company, that was also different enough to set a new course. The Goat is a play we’d been thinking of producing for several years but the timing never seemed right. Then, as we were planning the 2026 season, we wanted something romantic and provocative and deeply human – something that would seem completely absurd on the surface but linger in your soul for months and years. The Goat is a natural fit.”

The production stars Lynn and Potter as well as two of the region’s most prominent actors, Heath Camlis and Nikolas Prsa, marking the first time the four actors have ever shared a stage together. Camlis and Prsa were last seen together on The Shadowbox Theatre stage in last year’s production of Copracorn by Kieran Potter, and both have been an indomitable presence in the Windsor-Essex theatre industry for several years. The Goat also marks a return of sorts to Post Productions’ first play, Oleanna by David Mamet, which starred Lynn and Potter, who have since appeared onstage together many times.

“The world has changed a lot over the past decade, shattered and fragmented, dehumanized to a large extent,” Potter says. “We’ve seen the bonds between human beings disintegrating at an alarming rate. Theatre is one of the best ways to bring people together as human beings sharing an experience in close proximity, something that can’t really be replicated in any other medium. That’s what we’re after: re-humanizing the lives of people who chose to spend time with us. And I think The Goat is the perfect play to help us accomplish that goal in 2026. Despite the unsettling and provocative and absurd things that happen in this story, ultimately it’s about human beings who are deeply connected by different forms of love who, in a moment of shock and tragedy, rediscover what that means and why it matters – for good and for ill.”

The Goat or, Who Is Sylvia? by Edward Albee is being presented by Post Productions at The Shadowbox Theatre (1501 Howard Ave., corner of Howard & Shepherd) March 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 & 28. Showtime 8:00 PM (doors open 7:30). Tickets can be purchased for $20 for the first weekend (March 13 & 14), $25 for the second weekend (March 19, 20 & 21), and $30 for the third weekend (March 26, 27 & 28) through the link below or at the door via the MNSi Box Office (cash, debit, or credit card) if seats are still available. Directed and Produced by Michael K. Potter and Fay Lynn. Starring Michael K. Potter, Fay Lynn, Heath Camlis, and Nikolas Prsa. Lighting and Sound Operation by Ezra Poku-Christian.
