Meet John Gavey and the cast of Dead Bear

THE PLAYWRIGHT

John Gavey

JOHN GAVEY never thought he’d be writing plays. He’d written snippets of dialogue and poems for as long as he can remember. When the pandemic forced him to stay home he organized the snippets and poems into a play and the result was Dead Bear. He’s thankful for all of the help Post Productions gave in their playwriting contest. Fingers crossed, hopefully you’ll be able to see another of his plays soon! He’d also like to thank his wife for her patience.

Simon Du Toit as Detective Miles Mallow

SIMON DU TOIT started out playing bad men and policemen years ago, so it’s fun to return to that territory once more! Sometimes there’s not much difference between the two. Simon’s theatre career has included stints as actor, director, designer, professor, dramaturg, historian, published theorist, adjudicator, light and sound operator, floor sweeper, van driver, etc. – a typical life in the theatre! Simon is delighted to be returning to the talented Post Productions team.  “We poets in our youth begin in gladness; but thereof come in the end despondency and madness.” -William Wordsworth

Nina Fasullo as Kasara Porumbel

NINA FASULLO is a performer and choreographer from Burlington, Ontario. She has been a professional part of the Windsor theatre community for 10 years and has been involved in the arts since a very young age. She loves her plants, music and Satan. You may have seen her as Tracy Turnblad in Windsor Light Music Theatre's production of Hairspray, as Fiona in Cardinal Music's Production of Shrek  or in any of the other 15 shows she has been a part of with various companies across the city. She is very excited to be performing in her first Post Productions show and can't wait for everyone to see the amazing piece of work that is Dead Bear.

Cindy Pastorius as Captain Susan Hemmin

CINDY PASTORIUS is the “grease that keeps these gears grinding“ in Dead Bear as Captain Susan Hemmin. She has been active both on stage & behind the scenes in local theatre for over 20 years. She is a proud “Gaga” to her beautiful grandson, Roen. Previous stage credits with Post Productions include Stop Kiss, True West, Another Fucking Christmas Play: A Fucking Musical, and Pry It From My Cold Dead Hands. Special thanks to Carl who continually supports and encourages her and Julia & Devon who constantly inspire her. 

Joey Ouellette as Detective Scott Easton

JOEY OUELLETTE has participated in more than 500 different productions as an actor, director and playwright. He loves working for Post Productions and will be appearing in Glengarry Glen Ross in 2022. His play Pirate Attack on the 1C Bus Going Downtown will be presented in November 2022. Also he’ll be directing Dominatrix on Trial for Waawiiyaatanong Feminist Theatre in early 2022- all here at the Shadowbox! 

Nikolas Prsa as Charles "Corky" Porumbel

NIKOLAS PRSA is Outreach Director of Post Productions and is excited to both produce and perform in this new local work. Born and raised in Windsor, his most recent credits include The Soldier in Blasted, Stevie in Criminal Genius, various characters in Fatboy, Alan Strang in Equus (all with Post Productions), and Mortimer in The Fantasticks (Korda Artistic Productions). Following Dead Bear, his next role will be The Boy in Three Tall Women (Post Productions). Outside of theatre, Nik is a labour market researcher; his hobbies include current affairs and flags.
